25 WAYS TO CONVERT YOUR FILE TO PDF.

Last week I was busy with my project presentation and I had to to convert my word file to pdf(Adobe) document.Let me tell you first that , PDF format (Portable Document Format) is a global exchange document created by Adobe and is the most popular, reliable and recognized international standard for viewing and managing electronic documents in the world. If you have a limited internet connectivity or if you don’t have access to internet all the time then you can convert websites to PDF format and carry them with you where ever you want.So I felt many of you may also require such tools. Adobe charges a good sum($200) for creating pdf files even when many of the other providers offer this service for free .Hence I have tried to list down all the possible tools.

 

1. Pdf converter : Convert commonly used files (Microsoft Office, Open Office, graphic images, vector graphic and other formats) to PDF. This interactive PDF converter and document creator is quick and reliable. Try it for yourself.
2. Primo online creator : PrimoOnline provides a super-fast way to create PDF files online, without the need to install any PDF software. Simply upload your file, enter your email address, and our server-based PDF creator will quickly convert it to PDF and deliver it straight to your email inbox.
3. Doc2PDF.net : allows you to quickly choose the file you want to convert from your Local Machine and quickly see the result in seconds. It converted the 150k Document in seconds and opened immediately in Acrobat Reader within the Browser.

19. PDF4U : Use PDF4U to convert Word, PowerPoint, and Postscript documents to PDF. Use PDF4U printer to create any printable document to PDF.PDF4U converts your document to PDF and returns it to the email address you specified.But the Bad thing is its free version allows only file size of 30kb , that’s too less still can be used at times of need.
20. Text to PDF converter : As The name suggests it lets Text documents that is notepad files to be converted to PDF
21. Web2PDF Online : A free HTML to PDF Conversion service for your websites that allows your visitors to quickly save useful information in your blogs and websites to PDF files.
22. Lettos : This service lets you to convert DOC to ODT & PDF, ODT to PDF and DOC, PDF to TXT.
23. Easysw : It can be used to convert the web page of your choice to pdf format.
24. htm2PDF : It is a free service which facilitates you to convert your webpages(HTML) to PDF.
25. Zilla TXT to PDF Converter : It is a freeware which  can convert Text Files to PDF files quickly. It also allows you to set the Page Size, Font, Author and keywords information.

Split up large files to smaller pieces with GSplit

Many times when you may have  to send some video or file to your friend, but  you can’t send it because your email has a quota on attachment size and your file is of large size.These files can not be  added as a attachment or uploaded to some free upload sites. So to send those files you will have to split those files into small parts, after that you can upload them as a attachment.

A free application,GSplit,can be used to split large files into smaller files. Of course ,it goes without saying, that you can again join the files after receiving it at the recipient's side.

To split a file follow these steps

• Click the browse button under the General tab and locate the file you want to split.
• Select the location to save the smaller pieces of files in the Destination folder under the General tab.
• Click the Split button in the Split File under the General tab. By default, files created are self uniting blocked pieces type of files.

To restore the small pieces of files follow these steps

• Double click the first part of the small pieces, it is usually named as disk1. The GSplit self-uniting window will appear. Select the location where you want to restore the file then click the unite button.
• The files will be restored to the location selected by you. The output files are numbered and you simply execute the first one which will  combines the pieces almost instantly.
• The Best thing is that since the pieces are self-restoring, you don’t need to install GSplit to those receiving your split files.

Bank ATM get equipped with Pepper Spray

  Now South African’s has equipped itself with new technique to protect itself from thieves.  According to media reports, a bank in Cape Town, South Africa, has installed its cash machines with pepper spray to deter criminals from tampering and stealing money.The idea is that spray incapacitates you while the cops come out. Unfortunately, they've also been known to incapacitate the poor bastards who install them by randomly firing capsaicin at them.

The technology uses cameras to detect people tampering with the card slots.Another machine then ejects pepper spray to stun the culprit while police response teams race to the scene.The extreme measure is the latest in South Africa's escalating war against armed robbers who target banks and cash delivery vans. The number of cash machines blown up with explosives has risen from 54 in 2006 to 387 in 2007 and nearly 500 last year.

Patrick Wadula, spokesman for the Absa bank, which is piloting the scheme, told the Mail & Guardian Online: "During a routine maintenance check at an Absa ATM in Fish Hoek, the pepper spray device was accidentally activated.

But it seems that banks may have to use some other ways to tackle criminals

Lockbin :This is another free service which allows us to send private e-mails.Even here we neither have to install their software nor register. Just do the following

• Just visit their website
• Type the message you want to send in text box .And select any password of your choice that  will used to encrypt the email.
• Receiver will get an email to read the message you sent
• To read your message recipient just needs to enter the secret key (you have provided it in advance).
• After reading message will automatically get deleted from Lockbin’s data base. This is a different feature of lock bin and it may or may not be desirable.

Secrets :Secrets is a another free website which lets you send secret messages to email accounts. The way it works is quite simple

• You compose a secret message.
• You set a password.
• You send the message indicating the e-mail address of the receiver.
• The receiver will get an e-mail with a notice. He follows the link,
  enters the correct password, and will be able to read / store / forward / print the message.
• All messages are encrypted by using an algorithm with keys at 64bit.

Kermie Spy:This is another applications same as above and can be used to send private message

• How to encode a message:
  Simply type your message in the box below.  You then need to think of and enter a secret number between 1 & 200. (this number is secret between you and your friend).Simply click on the Encode Message button, and your Kermie Secret Spy Message is created!  Then click on the Send button to secretly send your encoded message to your friend!
• How your friend decodes a message:
  When your Kermie frog friend receives your Kermie Secret Spy Message, encoded using your secret number, they are directed to come to this site to use the Kermie Spy Decoder. With your secret number, they can decode your message to reveal your Kermie Secret Spy Message!

SEND SMS FREE!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mobiles have become a part of our life and so are the sms . Eventually as a greedy human being i felt the need of sending free sms and saving some bucks. After googling for a while i came across many services some  of which i have been personally using from a long time.

A List of some of the services are as follows :

160by2 : This site i have been using from a long time. A WAP version of this site is also available which i use for sending free sms . So this is actually a good service but the one thing which i hate about them is they allow only 80 characters to be sms other 80 are for advertise.

REDIFF MESSENGER : You can even send sms using this service truly speaking  this was the first service i had used to send free sms. Again the problem here is that you can only send 3 sms for sending more sms you will have to wait for recipient's reply.

 

 

 

 

WAY2SMS: Even this is a nice service allowing us to send up to 110 characters per sms . They claim to have a WAP site at m.way2sms.com . But i could never open it using my mobile browser.

SMS GUPSHUP : Well this service is comparatively new to me new. According to me it is the perfect mobile service just login and send sms to all your friends.

MYCANTOS : This is basically a social networking site where in you can send free sms to anyone. It allows 120 characters per sms . It is also present in Orkut in form of an application which can be added to once profile and then used to send free sms.

YAHOO MESSENGER : Even yahoo messenger allows you to send free sms to india similar to rediff. With yahoo you may also send sms to some other countries.

FREESMS8: This was new to me , it claims of empowering users with hassle-free way of sending SMS free of cost to any mobile in India.

SMSFAME : This is a wonderful tool to send free sms to friends. And the better part is that it is allows us to send 160 characters per sms!!!!!!!!GREAT….

Microsoft launches its new free Antivirus

From a long time , gossip has been in the air that Microsoft is probably going to launch new antivirus ever since it discontinued “Onecare” Antivirus. Microsoft revealed it yesterday and it is now available for download on their website.

 

The new free antivirus software is codenamed as “Morro”(after a beach in Sao Paulo in Brazil)  is actually called ‘Microsoft Security Essentials’.Microsoft claims that its free antivirus gives full protection from Viruses, Spyware, Rootkits, and Trojans, similar to other paid enterprises antivirus software. "Morro" is likely to  to compete with other anti-virus products from providers like symantec , kaspersky , AVG etc.
